"Sneak Previews & Surveys"

A nearly completed WATERFORD'S WAR had a Premier Showing at the Franklin Park Performing and Visual Arts Center in front of no less than 102 people!  "Just like Hollywood," as Meredith says, she and Peter Buck gathered audience opinion and feedback so they can tweak the film for its final release. The evening also included a focus group of 28 audience volunteers.  The discussion, led by Research Consultant Vanessa Moss-Summers, provided more detailed feedback.

As I pulled in to the parking lot that night, giant raindrops splattered on my windshield and the bruised sky was shot through with lightening. The day had been dangerously hot and when I took my seat in the theater in front of whirring fans, we were told the air conditioner was yet to be installed. Well! How else would we have it? Those of us who worked on the film felt right at home. Three summers ago, when most of WATERFORD'S WAR was being filmed, we knew just how the brave Dutton sisters felt, dripping sweat in an historic home in the record-breaking heat of a Virginia summer.

The poignant and well-written voice over narration wove the story together and brought a tear to my eye. To see the (almost) end result and to hear the wild applause as the end credits rolled was like magic. The air was charged with anticipation and pride, proving that all that sweat was to bring us to this night, when a historical Civil War story was unveiled by the talents of some very dedicated, talented, and well, special people. Congratulations to everyone, but especially to Meredith and Peter. Encore!!
