"All For the Union is a welcome addition to stories of that time in our nation’s history." - ShowBizRadio.net

All for the Union is the story of three unsung heroes of the Civil War, Lida and Lizzie Dutton and Sarah Steer, who dealt with foraging troops and skirmishes, cared for wounded soldiers, and, in the midst of all, wrote an underground newspaper for Union soldiers to raise monies for the Soldiers' Aide Society.

Armed with nothing more than their wits, they fought the Confederacy in their own way, and their humor, strength and faith will give audiences of all ages a fresh perspective on the most dangerous time in American history. The show is recommended for children ages 12 and up.

Wounded soldiers and unwelcome guests - Lieut. Milbrowe (Matt Curtis) takes aim at John Mobberly (played by Colin Tisdale).

The Civil War Writ Small

Loudoun was a deeply divided border county.  Here a huge slave-owning population mixed with Pacifist quakers and pro-Union German farmers, southern families were by no means of one mind, and the Underground Railroad steamed ahead despite the ravages of war.  This was the only county in Virginia to form a Union troop, and their story, too, is part of All for the Union.

Christopher Miller as German immigrant-turned-

Union Private Dieter Sternbergerholtzenheimer.

The Production

Written by prize-winning playwright and award-winning historian Meredith Bean McMath, this was the fourth time the play has been produced in Loudoun County and was the basis for the film Waterford's War.
